Blubird Village launched in the fall of 2023, bringing locally made, customizable handbags in various sizes, colors, and designs. I created their brand story and line-edited/wrote the product copy.

Welcome to Blubird Village! Our journey started with an education in textiles and fashion merchandising coupled with an insatiable desire to create. After nurturing children and a nursing career, unfulfilled dreams of being creative came calling, perfectly timed with an empty nest. We’re grounded in resilience gained through life’s challenges and the time-tested belief that resolve always paves the way for success. We like to be different too, so we set out to empower women to express their uniqueness through fashion.
Our name draws inspiration from bluebirds, known for their positive and social nature, and pays tribute to the power of community. Anything is possible with the right people by your side.
Empathy is at the heart of our brand. Whether working in nursing or creating for Blubird Village, both are about people. We seek to understand people’s needs and desires and set about solving for them. Blubird Village is a female-owned brand, with products that are artisan, customizable, and handcrafted in California.

“The Sparrow “

Sparrows are highly adaptable and can be found in various habitats, including urban areas, grasslands, and forests. They remind us to think outside the box and be creative when faced with challenging obstacles. Sparrows are versatile…just like our sparrow bag. The Sparrow is made of high-quality leather that allows you to express yourself with an interchangeable chain to suit your mood or outfit. It is a comfortable bag with an adjustable strap that lets you wear it loose or snug against the body. It has a gold interior pocket and can hold a surprising number of items.

Owls are medium to large-sized birds, some with wide wing-spans. Owls are wise…just like our Owl tote bag. The Owl is a smart-sized tote that can be used in various ways: gym bag, diaper bag, work bag…or you can even dress it up for a night out. The long, soft leather handle makes it easy to slip on and off your shoulder. Give it a try; the possibilities are endless.
“The Chickadee”

Chickadees are highly social birds that love to be around their flock. They are small but mighty…just like our Chickadee bag. The Chickadee travels well and is the perfect size to wear to a concert, festival, or date night. It holds the perfect amount of essentials: phone, sunglasses, lipstick, and credit cards. You can change the look with additional chains and accessories.
“The Nightingale”

Nightingales are primarily nocturnal and known for their beautiful songs during the night. Nightingales make an impression..just like our Nightingale crossbody/clutch. The Nightingale is made of high-quality leather that is buttery soft but solid. We paid careful attention to the intricate detail of the adjustable crossbody strap and the hardware that can be folded down to convert to a clutch handbag for a night on the town. There is a large pocket on the exterior and an interior pocket with the interior lined entirely in gold leather.
